Fingertype
The reason I designed the fingertype was because in my opinion graphic designers should show their identity in the work they make ! I decided to use my fisical identity to shape the fingertype design. But identity within the field of visual communication has many other way of being used. The result of showing your identity is that you are showing a certain type of honesty and humanness in this age of impersonal systems and technologies.
I think that with the developing of computer technologies and design automation the only real unique selling point a designer will have in the future, is his or her vision/design philosophy and identity.. There way of thinking their humor... or visual style. This doesn't mean that it is decoration. It is the way something is portrayed that makes it appeal and this visual representation of the uniqueness of the designer adds to the communicational value of the end product.
